Shortly after the formation of their band, the four Amsterdam teenagers of Palio Superspeed Donkey are already standing next to Matthijs van Nieuwkerk to pop in De Wereld Draait Door for a minute. Many Dutch bands put forward by the public broadcaster elaborate on the musical achievements of the sixties or seventies, but for Palio Superspeed Donkey the indie pop from the nineties seems much more important. The time when American bands like and caused a furore with a dynamic and prickly sound that also gave way to derailing elements. The latter is what makes the quartet - which can legally order a beer for the first time around the release party of A Funny Sunrise - so much fun.
