After a successful farewell tour in 2010, The Scorpions unexpectedly stayed together. The band was actually extinguished, but the holy fire was stoked by the thousands of fans who wanted to see the German hard rock formation live one more time. And so, after Comeblack (2011), an album with new versions of old work and covers, the five rockers celebrate their 50th anniversary as a band with Return
… To Forever (2015). A real new record that can also withstand the comparison with the classic work. This has two reasons. Firstly, the Germans processed all kinds of old ideas that were still on the shelf into new songs. Second, Return To Forever was produced by two self-proclaimed fans of their classic work. That means nice playing from singer Klaus Meine and lots of fast guitar solos. The Scorpions have always been good songwriters and Return To Forever contains a few subtle songs, in addition to many rock songs about how nice it is to make rock songs. That message being delivered with the energy of a bunch of teenagers indicates that The Scorpions have made the right decision by delaying their retirement. (JE)more
