Of the billions of people who once roared with fists in the air with The Final Countdown, only a fraction will know that Europe, the band behind that classic rock song, is still releasing new albums in 2015. The gentlemen of Europe don't seem to be really suffering from the decline in popularity. There is a smaller but more loyal group of fans left, who give the Swedish group a warm welcome with
… every club tour. Nevertheless, Europe may be heard by a wider audience. Few groups can better translate the classic hard rock sound of Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple into the 21st century. Singer Joey Tempest is still the eye-catcher of the group and his voice has become heavier and rougher over the years. His companion John Norum sounds like a guitar hero from days gone by with a sound that echoes Gilmour, Blackmore and Page. Thanks to their many years of experience, Europe knows how to give that familiar sound its own twist. (PdK)more
