You don't have to be born in or near Nashville to sing country with the right gasp. Just ask Ilse de Lange from Almelo. The singing twin sisters Catherine and Lizzy Ward Thomas come from the English county of Hampshire, but the farmers' daughters grew up there to the music of Carrie Underwood, Johnny Cash and Dixie Chicks. They listened carefully, because the last trace of a British accent has been
… carefully erased. Catherine and Lizzy recorded this debut album with Bobby Blazier and Chris Rodriquez, two veteran producers from Nashville. That duo makes the voices of the twenty-year-old sisters sparkle. The best point is the harmonic vocals, as with many sibling groups a strong asset. The musical interpretation is solid, without too many frills, with a pleasant balance between ballads and more uptempo material. From Where We Stand is just an uncomplicated country pop album. Fans of that genre will certainly find something to their liking on Ward Thomas' debut album. (PdK)more
