Although the debut in 2007 provides a small breakthrough, the British pop group quickly falls apart. Frontman Sam Dust released an EP under the pseudonym LA PRIEST in the same year, but later chooses a job as a scientist over the musician's existence. It then took eight years before he made himself heard again. However, it has been worth the wait, because his first real solo album is well received.
On Inji Dust sounds like a child of and . His panting voice gives a human touch to the angular funk and disco. Also the aggressive guitars that sometimes break in, ensure that this has not become a laboratory record. The scientist in Dust doesn't always keep quiet and some of the instrumental passages are not easy fare. Thanks to a good balance between pop and experiment, LA PRIEST's return is more than successful. Like listening to a quirky radio station that spins a big hit every now and then to keep listeners on their toes. (JE)more
