The story behind Aero Flynn's debut is too good not to mention. The band is from Eau Claire, Wisconsin, and the careful reader knows that this small town in the northern United States is also home to Bon Iver and Megafaun. Alternative folk bands with whom Aero Flynn shares quite a number of band members. In fact, according to the press release, these bands are more than indebted to leader Josh Scott.
He was the best songwriter on the local scene, but personal problems prevented him from capitalizing on his talent. He was unable or unwilling to accept various offers from record companies. After Bon Iver had a successful breakthrough in 2007, the band was delighted to help Scott. It took more than seven years for that to work. Fortunately, the end result does not disappoint. The emotional folklore is interspersed with strong electronic passages. The debut produced by Justin Vernon (Bon Iver frontman) is beautiful, even if you don't know about the romantic history that preceded it. (JE)more
