Forty years after its foundation, Motörhead is still running like a well-oiled machine. Since 1975, the British band has been an important trendsetter in hard rock, with singer / bassist Lemmy Kilmister in the lead. In 2015 Lemmy is in his seventies with various age-related ailments, but his band is still rock solid. Life as a musician with a predilection for booze and drugs takes its toll and yet
… nothing is noticeable on the anniversary album Bad Magic. "People just still want to hear about the devil, death, love and war," Lemmy explains in an interview. He can also easily explain Motörhead's continued success: "We still make the same rough rock and roll." That's how it is. Motörhead remains Motörhead. So expect thunderous drums and dirty guitar riffs. And as the icing on the cake the hoarse voice of Lemmy, which has a few spicy lyrics in store. And secretly also many melodies that linger for days. A young hard rock band would not be ashamed of what these old guys have achieved. (JE)more
