The inner sleeve of the CD leaves no mistake about it: 'Wild Nothing is Jack Tatum.' But where the young American played all the instruments himself on the first two Wild Nothing CDs, he calls on various session musicians for this third album. … through the tough opening series, where Tatum unfortunately confuses 'dreamy' with 'silky'. But from the upbeat Japanese Alice, Life Of Pause suddenly gets the spirit and the necessary momentum. The radiant centerpiece is To Know You, which was also released as a single, with its almost six minutes of thundering 'motorik' beat and intertwined guitar and synthesizer lines. TV Queen is hardly inferior. Wild Nothing has never sounded so confident and exciting. (RME)more
