This is a controversial album. Not because of the music, but because of disagreements between the three founders of Afro Celt Sound System. After Simon Emmerson left the band in 2015, James McNally and Martin Russel did not think he could release an album of his own under the same name without their knowledge. Still The Source comes out under this band name, while 'Formerly of ACSS' would have been
… neater. Anyway, apart from these perils, how does the music sound? The listener can enjoy the characteristic ACSS sound: a mixture of Celtic folk, traditional African music and electronica. In addition to Emmerson, this version of ACSS consists of the Scottish singer and bagpipe player , artist Mass who does the beats and electronics, the British-Indian dholdrummer and the West African artists (kora, balafon) and (percussion). Kick Horns and are among the many guests. (SvdP)more
