Based on the certainly not wrong debut album from 2014 it was tempting to dismiss Fear Of Men as just another dream pop band. Underneath the seemingly carefree guitar miniatures of the trio from the English coastal town of Brighton, however, already hid a lot of pain, wrapped up in the lyrics of singer Jessica Weiss. Successor Fall Forever is a more appropriate musical environment in that respect
… - sparse, with hardly a guitar rattle in sight. Instead, mostly thin synths and drumming. Fortunately, Weiss' heavenly recitation remained. Halfway through (A Memory, Until You) the trick with Michael Miles' runaway drums starts to get on your nerves. But much more often all elements coincide in an exemplary way - as in Undine, Island ('I'm like an island, I don't need to feel your arms around me'), Trauma of Erase (Aubade) - and then there is a lot to enjoy.
