For a long time, Kasabian practically held the honor of the city of Leicester and - since the end of - the ladrock high. A quintessentially British phenomenon, this guitar music that thrives especially in pubs, stadiums and other places with a serious male surplus. Roarable anthems, that's what it's all about, and that was the band's first three albums around Tom Meighan and therefore full of it.
They briefly made Kasabian the biggest band in Great Britain. After that it all became less. In Leicester, the honors were taken by the local football club (the mind-boggling champion of the 2015/2016 season), but ladrock was a black hole. Fortunately, Kasabian does what the band is best at just in time: making songs that are great for singing and drinking, such as Ill Ray, You're In Love With A Psycho and the great Comeback Kid. Even better is Are You Looking For Action which - propelled by a Knightrider-like bass loop - degenerates into a delightful freak show. The lads can be satisfied. (RME)more
