An English newspaper described Steven Wilson as 'the most successful British artist you have never heard of'. In his 30-year career, Wilson never made it to the mainstream. Probably his diverse musical output (from folk to rock, prog and metal) is partly to blame for this. Anyway, on To The Bone, the now 49-year-old musician shows his most accessible side. Wilson was inspired for this album by Peter
… Gabriel and Talk Talk, among others, artists who in the 80s managed to link complex music with an unmistakable pop feeling. In his lyrics, Wilson is close to current affairs with topics such as social media, fake news and polarization. Too difficult for the top-40, but with the uplifting up-tempo song Permanating (that sounds like a mix of and ) Wilson had probably scored a hit in 1985. (PdK)more
