The Heilung band members call their own music 'amplified history'. And rightly so, because they bring the history of the Vikings to life in a creative way. The trio dress up in wolf skins and reindeer masks and sing their lyrics in old Norwegian. Lifa: Live is the result of the concert Heilung gave at the Dutch Castlefest festival. With the term 'concert' you are actually doing the group short, it
… is more like a ritual. With self-built drums, Heilung induces an irresistible trance in which the special voices of Kai Uwe Faust (a deep growling guttural song) and Maria Franz (angelic high) flourish. For the battle song Krigsgaldr, even eight dressed up Viking warriors take the stage for extra screamed vocal support. Scandinavian folk music has never sounded so wild and raw and it leaves none of the audience unmoved. (PdK)more
