French multi-instrumentalist Kit Martin met Turkish singer Merve Erdem in London. Together they continued as the duo Kit Sebastian in which they share fascinations for Anatolian psychedelic pop, European beat music, jazz and world music. Martin played all the instruments himself and recorded them with analog equipment. Mantra Moderne therefore got an authentic sixties sound, but by orientating themselves widely, this special duo extends their music to this time, as a kind of global dream pop. (MR)more
