The title of Thiago Nassif's second album is a homonym in Portuguese and means both 'thought' and 'lie'. It is a reference to the political climate in Brazil at the time this album was released. A regime that unfortunately does not take the truth so closely. Producer, composer and multi-instrumentalist Nassif therefore wants to show a progressive sound that connects and transcends different genres.
Together with the help of new wave producer Numerous styles, such as experimental electronica, new wave, funk, jazz, bossa nova and psychedelic rock, are strung together on this album. Nassif refers to Tropicalia, a Brazilian art movement from the 1960s in which elements from popular culture were combined with the avant-garde. He thus remains accessible at Mente, but always with a razor-sharp edge and not just chaotic.
