Asian Dub Foundation was established in East London in the early 1990s. They are known for their unique combination of jungle, breakbeat, hip hop, double bass lines and raw guitars, all with a carefully preserved '90s feel. In addition, the gentlemen are quite politically committed. Their fame mainly started with their performances in France and from there they worked their way back to their homeland.
They were also one of the first bands to make alternative film scores. For example, they took care of the soundtracks of La Haine, THX 1138 and Battle Of Algiers. Asian Dub Foundation is again quite militant on their ninth album Access Denied. For example, Youthquake Part 1 features a speech by the young Swedish activist Greta Thunberg and the album has an overall anarchistic appearance that would not look out of place in the 80s. (AD)more
