Fans of Autechre will be lucky in 2020, less than a month after the release of
SIGN the illustrious British duo will release another album as a surprise. As you'd expect from the two of them, you don't just beat yourself through their music. Three songs on the tracklist go over ten minutes and are the oppressive highlights of the album. Compared to SIGN, the duo is now much more erratic and
… unpredictable. A melodic rapprochement is completely abandoned here and exchanged for a jumble of sounds, abstract compositions and non-conventional IDM - like the Autechre of yesteryear. That may take some swallowing, but once again the two of them show that they are masters of avant-garde electronics. (JvQ)more
