American singer, guitarist and songwriter Jakob Dylan doesn't do any career planning. In this, he resembles his father
Bob Dylan. After a number of solo albums and duets with
Fiona Apple and
Beck among others, he now returns with his old band The Wallflowers. Exit Wounds is their first album since 2012's emphatically titled Glad All Over. But no original member joins Dylan on Exit Wounds. It seems
… to have become more of a name under which he wants to rock out. The album is full of rough heartland and roots rock that refers as much to his father (in a rock mode) as Tom Petty and Bruce Springsteen. Characteristic is Dylan's raw and tough sighing vocals in songs that are often dark in atmosphere. Not a heavenly storming album, but a solid and old-fashioned rocking album. (MR)more
