Deutsch Amerikanische Freundschaft, DAF for short, was among the most successful precursors of the Neue Deutsche Welle in the 1980s. This duo specialized in electro-punk, a genre that held midway between punk and techno, and scored underground hits with Der Mussolini, Der Räuber Und Der Prinz and Kebabtraume. Nur Noch Einer is the album that DAF's huge fan base has been waiting for for years.
However, the death of singer Gabi Delgado in 2020 threw a spanner in the works. Robert Görl, the remaining member, decided to record the farewell album on his own. Nur Noch Einer was made using sequences that Görl found on previously unreleased recordings. From the very first notes, it becomes poignantly clear that Delgado's compelling vocals will be sorely missed. Despite Görl's good intentions, this delivers at least half the power. (AD)more
