Eighteen years after
Everybody Loves A Happy Ending (2004), Britain's Tears for Fears release their long-awaited seventh studio album. In doing so, they reference their old sound, with an emphasis on immersive synthesizers, while at the same time bringing a contemporary breath of fresh air to their sound. The production is smooth and well put together, but that also means that there are no real
… stunners of yesteryear. No songs of the caliber of Head Over Heels, Mad World or Shout. For that, the duo has abandoned the drama too much this time around. There are also a few ballads that take the momentum out of the whole. Still, fans of yesteryear can revel in the distinctive Tears for Fears sound that is prominent on this album. (JvQ)more
