On his third album Stellar Drifting, the British George FitzGerald has one leg on the dance floor and the other somewhere at the after-party of his own club night. He alternates beautiful melodies with solid beats and provides his songs with beautiful details, while also managing to blow them up to beautiful climaxes. Unlike his previous album
All That Must Be (2018), this time it is much less
… house-oriented. There is an interesting dynamic on this album between the energetic part of the album on the one hand and the inward-focused music on the other. With a lot of twanging, electronic bells and the help of guest artists Panda Bear, SOAK and London Grammar, FitzGerald works to create a totally unique atmosphere, which also rubs against pop music. By playing with different rhythms and melodies, the album stays dynamic and interesting. (JvQ)more
