Eyes Of Others is the self-titled debut from Edinburgh-based producer John Bryden. He himself has rebranded his music as "post-dub that doesn't belong in the club. As such, he has made his sound incredibly mellow. Dreamy electronica slowly creeps forward and is mainly built up by drum machines and synthesizers. Bryden sings over it with a drawling voice. He takes his time in his songs; the pace is
… nowhere fast. This contributes to the hypnotic effect his music (and check out the trippy album cover) has. In his own words, Bryden has created his songs without imposing too many restrictions on himself and that can be heard on this album, which exudes a certain lightness and freedom. Throughout, you can still hear the 80s and there is even room for subtle humorous lyrics (about chocolate, for example). (YvQ)more
