Singer-songwriter Lewis Capaldi is now an established name in music land and has also emerged as something of an ultimate good guy. So the music on his third album, Broken By Desire To Be Heavely Sent, fits right in with that. Capaldi does not tinker much with his formula, and why reinvent the wheel? Musically, it follows almost seamlessly from his debut album
Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent… (2019). That means an alternation of sing-alongs with a bombastic edge and sensitive ballads in which Capaldi bares his heart. When writing this album, the artist looked at everything that goes wrong in the world. However, pessimism does not drip off this album; for that, Capaldi knows too well how to play to his audience. Still, there is a form of tension missing from Capaldi's music and the whole thing does remind one very much of Ed Sheeran. (YvQ)more
