Starting in the 1990s, Norway's Motorpsycho had a leading role in the development of alternative rock. Above all, the trio showed a lot of daring and thus stood at the forefront of post-rock with almost classic albums like

Angels And Daemons At Play (1997). But the group also dared to evolve and collaborate with Norwegian jazz musicians on, for example, the free jazz- and
… prog-influenced epic The Death Defying Unicorn (2012). That pioneering role of the now duo reduced to Motorpsycho seems to have waned in recent years The only noisy thing about Yay! Is the title. The album is dominated by nostalgic-looking semi-acoustic progfolk. Bent Sæther's vocals play the leading role in this but his high and unsteady vocals were never the band's strongest asset.
