The fifth album by Lenny Lewis, former lead singer of Rilo Kiley, is primarily about relationships. In doing so, she looks at relationships with others as well as herself, this time wrapped in songs drenched in a country sauce. Accordingly, the bulk of the album was written in Nashville, and Lewis enlisted Americana producer Dave Cobb (known for
Jason Isbell and
Chris Stapleton, among others). On
… this album, the American alternates free-spirited songs with more intimate work in which she takes a contemplative look at her own life. With playful twists and a lively way of singing, Lewis manages to make a lasting impression from beginning to end. (JvQ)more
