Many songs on the intimate, introspective album Home were created during the lockdown period of the corona pandemic. American folk singer Eliza Gilkyson portrays the reassessment of the simple, domestic things we normally take for granted. Ultimately, life is about warm human contact, compassion and love. With warm voice, Gilkyson sings the mostly quiet, reflective folk, blues and gospel-like songs.
She is joined by co-producer and multi-instrumentalist Don Richmond and a bevy of interesting guest artists. For example, Robert Earl Keen, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Ray Bonneville, Van Dyke Parks and her own brother Tony Gilkyson. Man In The Bottle is a nearly 7-minute tribute to her father Terry Gilkyson with snippets of his songs. She appropriately ends with a cover of Karla Bonoffs Home.(SvdP)more
