Atmosphere, the Minneapolis-based rap group consisting of rapper Slug and producer Ant, has built a wide discography since 1997. Their Sad Clown Bad Dub series originated as collections of tracks the group sold loose on tour, as Slug also explains in the track Hungry Fuck: "Fuck your criticism about the sound quality, this is not an album, the sole intention is to eat better while on the road. … the years, these releases took many forms, including cassettes, live recordings and mixtapes. Capitalizing on the specific popularity of this second volume (already copied frequently by fans), this collection was released back in 2000 with the text "authorized bootleg" emblazoned on the cover. The casual collection of tracks nevertheless sounds coherent, packed with Slug's sharp, witty raps and sensitively sampled beats. Due out in 2023, this digitally remastered version will be released for the first time on all platforms (good news, then, for the group Slug pointed out with criticisms of sound quality). (SD)more
