Gentle Confrontation is the third album released by Loraine James on the Hyperdub label. With this album, she looks at both her own past and present. As a black queer woman growing up in London, James was surrounded by different cultures and came into contact with diverse musical genres such as emo-punk, rock and electronica. … well. Like previous albums, Gentle Confrontation is a lush collection of sounds, genres and angles within which unpredictability reigns supreme. The sound collages were brought to life by James in her home studio. In her songs, James alternates dreamy passages with spiky rhythms and piercing beats, while she uses her vocals vulnerably.
