Amsterdam-based band Alamo Race Track has been around (under this name) since 2001. During that time, the formation around singer and songwriter
Ralph Mulder has not only released several beautiful and well-received albums, they also worked intensively with creators of theater and dance performances. After their last album
Hawks (2015), however, things remained quiet around the band for a long time.
Where Mulder was hiding is immediately revealed by the cover of Greetings From Tear Valley And The Diamond Ae: East Groningen. Mulder originally went there to care for his ailing father, but found inspiration in this remote corner of the Netherlands. The empty(er) landscape has indeed left its mark on the band's beautiful and melodic songs, which sound quite minimal here and there. But the band also seeks contrast, by means of solid guitar work. This results in a beautiful and varied album (JV).more
