With little modernity, but a lot of charisma and heart and soul, Danny Vera managed to reach the Dutch top. His song Roller Coaster has already been listened to some 100 million times on Spotify. Extraordinary how the Middelburg singer-songwriter did not let this get him down. Instead of moving into an expensive studio, he rented the theater in his hometown, where he and a primary band recorded a
… collection of new songs live without an audience. Imperfections the listener must take for granted on DNA, his most honest and unadorned album. Nostalgia and sentiment dominate DNA, but only as Vera can do with verve. Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis and Johnny Cash are never far away within a collection of country and rock 'n' roll songs in which Vera allows his feelings to fully speak. A nice elemental album that of course does not lack the necessary Top 2000-quality tearjerkers. (MR)more
