The title of this second album by
Deftones-spin-off Crosses is taken from singer Chino Moreno's childhood. 'Goodnight, God Bless, I Love U' all family members said to each other at night, before going to bed. 'Hearing that phrase gave me a sense of security,' said Moreno, who added 'Delete.' 'That represents the idea that one moment you have everything, and the next it's over.' It is this somber
… consideration that colors the music of Crosses (gray). Heavy, somber music, in which the guitars of Deftones have been replaced by the electronic instruments of co-founder Shaun Lopez (known from the band Far). Goodnight, God Bless, I Love U, Delete is alternately reminiscent of Nine Inch Nails, Killing Joke and The Cure, whose frontman Robert Smith makes a fitting contribution to Girls Float, Boys Cry. It is one of the standouts on this admittedly atmospheric but slightly too long and top-heavy album.more
