Guitarist Slash has acquired a recognizability over the decades he has been active that many a cartoon character could envy. Invariably adorned with a top hat on his voluminous head of curls, Aviator sunglasses in front of his eyes and a fag in the corner of his mouth, Saul Hudson - as his real name is - fulfills all the expectations (or, if you will, clichés) surrounding hard rock guitarists in
… terms of both looks and music. In addition to his work with Guns N' Roses and (formerly) Velvet Revolver, Hudson has a solo project with which he has now also built a small body of work. With regulars vocalist Myles Kennedy (Alter Bridge) and his backing band The Conspirators, Slash once again delivers an album full of recognizable, steaming rock sounds. Much of what Slash and his band play seems to come straight from songs by the likes of Ozzy Osbourne and Bon Jovi, but presumably no one will lose sleep over that. (JV)more
