Amsterdam trio Teddy's Hit was discovered, remarkably, by Hoorn-based roots artist
Tim Knol. He released debut
Painters (2021) on his label
I Love My Label. In a convenient us-kent-ons, the Volkskrant immediately called Painters an outlier in Dutch indie offerings. The group then advanced to Holland's largest indie label Excelsior Records. On their second album, Teddy's Hit sounds wanton and confident.
They sought more groove this time which manifests itself in angular punk funk and electro-punk. Singing drummer Kick Kluiving disguises his Dutch background with a Cockney accent which at the same time gives something coal-like and charming to his enthusiastic vocals. With an energetic sound and playful approach to their instruments, you can hear that Teddy's Hit is a real stage band, but they managed to capture this well on Scratch as well. In short, with Teddy's Hit, Excelsior Recordings has brought back another hearty band. (MR)more
