The Norwegian band Mesaverde consists of seasoned musicians who have gained experience in several other bands and thus, with a bit of good will, deserve the label "supergroup. Their music is less easy to define: metal fans find the album too proggy, fans of progressive rock prefer to call it indie art rock, and typical indie pop listeners will hear something else in it. It is precisely this elusive
… combination of styles that makes the album so appealing. The songs are well put together in terms of both melody and instrumentation, but especially as an album in itself, it is a very strong whole with a good build-up. The 70s influences are plentiful, but Mesaverde never makes them sound like clichés. Whether you want to call them a supergroup or not, All Is Well is in any case a super album. (JV)more
