Singer-songwriter Douwe Bob combines on his sixth album Where Did All The Cooll Kids Go? the sound of his previous two albums
The Shape I'm In (2018) and
Born To Win, Born to Lose (2021). That is, pop songs are interspersed with Americana and folk songs. With the first three songs, he's already shooting off in so many directions in terms of influences, mood and tempo that it seems like he doesn't
… quite know what exactly he wanted to go for. Douwe Bob also fathered three children with three different women and he is only too happy to deal with the effects of all that on this album. That's why the sensitive subjects soon surface, but the stadium-like slant Douwe Bob gives to his songs doesn't help the emotive aspect. The listener may judge for themselves whether they go along with Douwe Bob's story, because despite the fact that this album feels crammed, most of the songs listen away just fine. (YvQ)more
