Cedje grew up partially in Amsterdam but spent most of his life in Mechelen. Following his three-part mixtape series In A Setup, Platinum In The Streets is his official debut album, which the rapper indicated will also directly be his last musical release. On the intro track, an (unnamed) singer underscores the point of the album title: "I don't need no gold record 'cause I'm platinum in the streets.
The state of his career is a recurring theme. On Moest Allang, Cedje indicates that he should have been further along by now, but didn't always prioritize writing music: 'Fingers are dirty and that's why I wasn't really on pens'. Armed with Flemish slang, Cedje specializes in hip-hop, trap and drill. The record features both melancholy and menacing beats, filled in with sharp drums, synths and piano sounds, and unflinching, moody lyrics about experiences in the context of (street) life. There are also uptempo danceable outings, such as Cap (on which he addresses lying colleagues) and Anvers X Malines.
