This time she goes for influences from European and psychedelic pop. The latter comes mainly from producer Kevin Parker, whose stamp is clearly on this album. … and although you don't hear it back, Lipa says she is inspired by britpop and artists like Massive Attack and Primal Scream. What you do hear back is tightly produced and tasteful pop music, with nice details in the background such as bells and whistles. The whole thing is less hit-sensitive than her earlier albums, although songs like Illusion and Houdini are instant earworms. (YvQ)more
