John Waite was the lead singer of The Babys and later of Modern English. Temple Bar is his eighth solo album. This record was released in America a year earlier, but was not officially released in the Netherlands for unclear reasons. Temple Bar certainly deserves some attention. The CD is filled with seven own songs and three covers: Ain't No Sunshine (Bill Withers), Someone Like You (Van Morrison)
… and an unfortunately less convincing version of I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry (Hank Williams). Especially in songs like Downtown, Someone Like You, More, In Dreams and The Glittering Prize, John Waite shows that he has not forgotten how to make quality pop music.more
