Rapper Jay-Z (Sean Carter) already has a number of hits to his name in America, including two songs that he recorded with Foxy Brown Get Me Home and I'll Be. The list of collaborators on In A Lifetime Vol.1, a record that he dedicated to The Notorious BIG, can safely be called impressive. He worked again with Foxy Brown while big names like Babyface, Blackstreet, Puff Daddy and Lil 'Kim contributed
… their musical stones. In A Lifetime Vol.1 is somewhat different from other contemporary rap CDs. The songs sometimes even sound melodic, seemingly influenced by 70s soul. Some examples of this are The City Is Mine, Imaginary Player, and Lucky Me. Still, just like with so many rap CDs, it's too much of the same to be fascinating to the end. (CK)more
