The English Senser debuted in 1994 with Stacked Up, an album of which more than 250,000 copies were sold worldwide. What strikes the most about the successor Asylum at first sight is the absence of rapper Keitham, which means that Kerstin Haigh is responsible for the vocals on her own. The combination of her sometimes sweet, sometimes aggressive voice with the dance- and big beats, Britpop, trip
… hop, heavy metal and even gabber determines the sound of the album. Although she regularly threatens to be blown away (for example in the hard, louder, loudest songs Charming Demons and Adrenalin) she remains admirably upright. The highlights of this album, which is a bit too worked up for my taste, are Strange Asylum, the single Breed and the resting point Lizard. (WvdZ)more
