This new CD from the New Power Generation is released soon after the surprising Crystal Ball. That album featured an old-fashioned, relaxed Prince with a strong collection of more or less obscure old and new songs. New Power Soul is somewhat disappointing in comparison. … are disappointing. Funky soul-pop songs like When You Love Somebody and Shoo-bed-ooh don't really get off the ground and we have heard the very sweet ballads Until Ure In My Arms Again and The One before and better. That Prince still knows how to do it, he proves in the songs New Power Soul, Mad Sex and the uncomplicated Funky Music. (WvdZ)more
