Snoop Dogg's third album, who has gotten rid of his nickname Doggy, is a strikingly laidback record. Almost all songs are based on calm, cool drum computer grooves over which the gangsta rapper also chats his relaxed lyrics. For a bit of fire, heavier contributions from executive producer Master P (Get Bout it & Rowdy), Mystikal (Tru tank Dogs), Silkk The Shocker (20 dollars to my Name) and
… C-Murder (DP gangsta). The best songs are Hustle & Ball (good chorus) and Ain't Nut'in Personal. Da Game Is To Be Sold, Not To Be Told is not a rap record that blows out your speakers, but more of a CD that seems intended for a balmy summer evening. (WvdZ)more
