Singer / songwriter Joni Mitchell has been taking things a bit slower in recent years. There are four years between this CD and her previous one, Turbulent Indigo. She is not in a hurry on Taming The Tiger either. It is a tastefully arranged record with mostly slow, jazzy parts and an atmosphere mainly determined by synthesizers and Wayne Shorter's saxophone. … the album himself and played guitar, bass and keys. She got help from drummer Brian Blade and her ex-husband, bassist Larry Klein, among others. Taming The Tiger is a perfectly balanced CD with compositions that are without exception of a high level.
