A small hype has already arisen in England around the five-piece Gay Dad. Not surprising when you consider that the singer of the band is the former music journalist Cliff Jones. Oh Jim was named after a song with the same title on Lou Reeds Berlin, Joy is named after an album of the same title by The Palace Brothers while Dimstar was named after one of Sonic Youth's Thurston Moore solo projects The Dim Stars. The first eight of the ten songs in total, from the fast with a heavenly sounding glockenspiel starting Dimstar to radio-friendly poppy songs with beautiful choirs like Oh Jim and Pathfinder would not be out of place in the charts in the Netherlands.
