In 1999, Richard Thompson was asked by Playboy to list the top ten songs of the millennium. Thompson, who suspected that this would end up on a list of the last twenty years, outsmarted Playboy by actually making a selection from 1,000 years of music. And so he starts this concert that was given on the basis of that list with Sumer Is Icumen In from around 1260 and he goes through the many centuries
