Cubism contains a live recording of a concert that the Pet Shop Boys gave at the Auditorio Nacional in Mexico City on November 14, 2006, which was recorded by David Barnard, who also directed the concert videos of Björk and Gorillaz. To live up to the name Cubism, the decor consists of a gigantic cube that constantly changes shape and may or may not be provided with projections. Supplemented by
… two dancers and three backing singers, this results in a sober yet very effective live set. In addition, singer Neil Tennant is invariably dressed as an English gentleman and keyboardist (and also only musician) Chris Lowe as a hooligan, to maintain the contrast. Besides world hits like Suburbia, West End Girls and Go West, many songs from their latest CD Fundamental are featured. The DVD also features the adventures of the Pet Shop Boys in Mexico, accompanying commentary and a collection of photos. (AD)more
