The concert that Kings Of Leon gave on July 2, 2009 in Ahoy ', was only moderately appreciated by their Dutch fans. Frontman Caleb Followill barely bothered to hide his grumpiness and after barely 45 minutes the cake was over. The quartet was already in the dressing room and refused to come back for an encore. Strange, because the Kings Of Leon have little reason to complain. On their latest album
… the group had successfully replaced the rattling charm of the first three records with an accessible stadium rock sound. A venue like Paradiso was effortlessly exchanged for Ahoy ', and in England, for the colossal O2 Arena. In everything Kings Of Leon nowadays presents itself as a tough and professional rock band. That is why on this first DVD a lot of quickly edited images with close-ups of grim and seriously lurking musicians who are cheered on by a striking number of young girls. This DVD offers a tight concert, that's for sure, but unfortunately no spontaneity or visible playing pleasure. (PdK)more
