Kornog has risen from the ashes again! From 1981 to 1987 the world was introduced to a band from Brittany, who played the stars of the sky with the Breton variant of Celtic music. At the time, Kornog's sound was revolutionary: the acoustic band gave flair to the centuries-old Breton dance music with its complex arrangements. In 1987 the very talented musicians decided to disband the band in order
… to do their own solo projects. In 2000 the thread is picked up again with the album "Korong", named after the river that flows through Brittany. The musicians are: the Scotsman Jamie McMenemy (vocals, bouzouki, mandolin), the Breton Christian LemaĆ®tre (violin, viola), the Breton Jean-Michel Veillon (wooden flute, whistle, bombard) and the original guitarist Soig Siberil has now been replaced by the Frenchman Nicolas Quemener (guitar, vocals). The music is just as beautiful and mesmerizing, both contemporary and old, both graceful and compelling. Breton music that swings and buzzes, yet is far from extremes such as nostalgic traditionalism or forced modernity. (SvdP) _more
