… Duo Panman Vermijs choose a surprising angle from the flamenco tradition. Guitarist Jur Vermijs came up with the idea after he noticed how many subtle, but coincidental, similarities there are between Bach's Goldberg Variations and flamenco. 'Some of the melodies seemed cut out for flamenco guitar pieces, and there also seemed to be a parallel in terms of the endless variations on the same chords,' he tells himself. The chosen selection of variations are cast in a colorful array of dances and styles from the flamenco tradition, such as an Andalusian zapateado, a Seville-related Sevillas and a rhythmic bulerĂas.
