Sidiba is the second internationally released album by Mali acclaimed griot singer Bako Dagnon. Coming from the traditional caste of troubadours / storytellers, she learned this same profession from the old masters by listening to them a lot and absorbing their repertoire knowledge and wisdom. She developed into a traditional griot, living in simplicity, who knows all regional music styles well and
… performs at weddings and other ceremonies. She is a source of information for many, including Kandia Kouyate and the late Ali Farka Toure. Mali knows her well: shortly after her first public appearance in 1966, she was part of the famous Ensemble Instrumental National for decades. A Western audience only got to know her through her international debut Titati (2007). The woman with the dark-hued powerful voice bridges the gap between old and new with her music: the predominantly traditional songs are instrumentally accompanied by both traditional and Western instruments.
